ENGLISH POP SINGER, COMPOSER AND PIANIST ELTON JOHN HAS CONFIRMED THE TERM OF HIS PRAGUE CONCERT – HE WILL PRESENT HIMSELF IN THE PRAGUE O2 ARENA ON 10th JUNE, 2010. ACCOMPANIED BY HIS BAND HE WILL PLAY THE CRUCIAL COMPOSITIONS OF HIS RICH CAREER.

ELTON JOHN is one of the most successful solo artists in the history of popular music. He is known due to his hits such as “Rocket Man” and “Tiny Dancer” from the beginning of the 70s, but his professional career has continued for more than 40 years. Among his best-known hits belong also the songs “Daniel”, “Candle in Wind”, “I’m Still Standing” or “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”, which was awarded by an Oscar and was played in the most successful animated film of all time: “Lion King”. More than 200 million of his records have been sold in the whole world so far!

However, Elton John became famous also for his other activities – support of charity projects, establishing a foundation for helping people suffering from AIDS and fight for legalisation of marriages between people of the same sex. Singer, composer and pianist Sir Elton Hercules John, awardee of the Order of the British Empire, was born in London on 25th March, 1947. His name was originally Reginald Kenneth Dwight, but in the year 1972 he officially changed his name to Elton Hercules John, whereas he uses his middle name Hercules only very rarely. He is coming back to Prague after five years from his last visit; he played here for the first time in the Palace of Culture (Palác kultury) in the year 1984.
